Art Direction Character Art Concept Art & Rigging for Meta Reality Labs

Slimeball is a tiny mixed reality game commissioned for the Quest Pro headset. I Co-Created & Art Directed this game.

Slimeball! is out now on the Oculus Store!

A Goopy Game World

In Slimeball, players compete to feed their creature slime in fast paced score attack matches.

I was inspired by swamp creatures, ‘90s animation & fantastical mycology in creating the world of Slimeball. I focused on tight color harmonies and soft overhead lighting to create stylized visuals that would look good in the Player’s physical space.

Expressive Characters

Players control squishy mutated swamp creatures with their face, eyes & body movements.

I wanted our characters to be stretchy and silly, making the most of our client’s pre-release face tracking tech while being forgiving to our development process. I was responsible for direction, design, modeling, texturing, rigging & shading, with physics simulation & visual effects by Tyler Hurd & Drew Skillman.

Logo & Key Art

I created a movie poster style piece of key art flexible enough for us to use basically anywhere. The base image was rendered in Blender, then composited in and color corrected in Photoshop with a bit of additional manipulation. I also illustrated the Slimeball! logo by hand.
